FLU CAMPAIGN UPDATE 7/9/2020
As I am sure you will be unsurprised to hear, the way in which we deliver our flu clinics this year will be significantly different. In order to maintain infection control, social distancing and patient safety we are not at the present time in a position to offer a walk in clinic as in previous years.
This year we will be operating a flu clinic outside the practice in a gazebo on timed appointments only. We will not be able to vaccinate anybody without an appointment - without exception. Our dates will go live shortly and patients eligible for a flu vaccine will receive an invitation either by phone or text message.
The appointment slots will be 5 minutes each. Please if possible attend wearing attire that enables easy access to your upper arms so we can maintain patient flow as a one way system will be in place.
We have now received our delivery of vaccines for patients aged 65 and over, and we will begin booking appointments for these imminently. Please watch out for your text invite or voice message if no mobile phone number is registered with us. These appointments can be booked via the NHS app or by phoning reception.
We will be running several dates so please do not worry. Ideally please come alone and park off site (Tesco or the recreation centre) to avoid overloading the car park and causing traffic problems if at all possible.
PLEASE SEE THE BELOW STATEMENT FROM CENTRAL GOVERNMENT REGARDING THE NEW AGE GROUPS INCLUDED THIS YEAR:
"Please note that, if you are aged between 50 and 64 and not in a clinical at risk group, the earliest you will be offered a flu vaccination is November, providing there is sufficient vaccine. No appointments will be offered for people in this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are aged 50 to 64 and are in a clinical ‘at risk’ group which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier."
Thank you for your support and understanding at what is an unprecedented time.
